BetterOff Australia is committed to reversing the trend of obesity in Australia.
Australia is one of the five most obese countries of the world. Around two-thirds of adults and a quarter of children are overweight or obese in Australia today. There has been a dramatic change since the late 1970s when we first collected national data on weight and height.
In 1980, around 60% of Australian adults had a healthy weight; today, only around 35% do. In 1980, just 10 percent of adults were obese. In 2012, this figure is closer to 25 percent.
The BetterOff group is currently identifying global leading practice in relation to obesity. We are speaking with a wide and diverse range of experts, as well as health departments and governments as we seek out world’s leading practice.
